FESTIVAL OF THE ELEMENTS

Waitangi Day, Porirua City

Te Rauparaha Park & Arena, Aquatic Centre & Pataka

Welcome to another Porirua Festival of the Elements! I’m looking forward to Waitangi Day on February 6 when once again this now famous one-day festival will offer a superb programme of arts and culture.

This year we once again return to Te Rauparaha Park, and the outstanding new facility in Porirua - Te Rauparaha Arena.  The festival will also utilise the Aquatic Centre and Pataka.  The day starts with an opening ceremony at 11am, with a wide range of arts and entertainment programmes continuing through until 7.30 pm.

The Festival uses the arts to celebrate the cultural diversity of Porirua, made possible by the Treaty of Waitangi.  The elements of earth and air, fire and water embrace concepts of significance to all cultures, concepts around which we can all unite. Tangata Whenua and Tangata Tiriti rejoice together on Waitangi Day by way of the arts.

FESTIVAL SAFETY

There are 3 community groups who enable us to deliver a safe festival to the community.  They are Porirua Community Guardians, Titahi Bay Lions Club and the Maori Wardens.

ZERO WASTE

Let's make the Festival of the Elements 2012 Zero Waste!  To register as a stall holder for 2012's festival you must make a commitment to use only recyclable or compostable food packaging and minimise the waste produced by your stall.   For more information, view the Stallholder Information page.
